Yucatan is famous for its food. On this tour, you will learn something about it as you make it! It’s fun, it’s educational; it’s delicious and 100% family friendly.
If you love to cook and eat - and meet lovely local people in the process - this might be the tour for you!
After leaving the port, we arrive in a somewhat small town in the Yucatan heartland and begin preparing a typical Yucatecan dish, starting with a visit to the local market to get our ingredients. There is chopping, washing, mashing and mixing to be done, as well as roasting on the typical cooking fire. You will not be standing around and even the kids love this tour as they are involved and not just bystanders.
While the food is cooking we could do one of the following (all are family-friendly) additional activities, most of which are add-ons and would imply an additional cost:
visit nearby Uxmal
visit nearby Chocolate museum
paint a ceramic piece to take home supervised by a well-known Mayan artist in her workshop
enjoy a beer tasting/presentation by a local microbrewery
This tour and all the options it offers, is a lot of fun and not at all stuffy or boring. Eating under the palapa roof while roosters crow and turkeys gobble nearby is a true rural Yucatan experience. You and your family will love it!
